Christmas at The Bower House is full of sparkle, champagne and feasting!
Our festive menus are brimming with seasonal favourites and celebratory flavours, perfect for gatherings large or small.
We welcome private groups from six to seventy for festive breakfasts, lunches and suppers, with wine pairings and impeccable service. And when it comes to New Year’s Eve, we host a proper celebration!
And if you book for a group of 6 or more before October 31st, there will be a bottle of prosecco on the house from us, as a little thanks for being an early bird.

Our kitchen is at the heart of The Bower House, led by award-winning Head Chef Leo Kattou. His menus celebrate the best of local and British ingredients, served simply and beautifully.
We’re open for lunch and dinner, weekend breakfasts, Sunday roasts, and relaxed moments over tea, coffee and cake. At the bar, you’ll find cocktails, an extensive wine list, and local ales and spirits, perfect for a drink before dinner or a nightcap afterwards. The Bower House offers a true taste of our corner of the Midlands, where Warwickshire, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire meet.

The Bower House champions the kind of honest ingredients I’m starting to see about the place; first trout then quail. Cured chalk stream trout is a better option than the ubiquitous salmon and here they deliver it as thick-cut strips; firm and rammed with flavour and made to sing alongside a delicate and restrained scattering of peas, leaves and edible flowers, dabs of avocado and a couple of cubes of pink grapefruit. It’s as perfectly balanced as a high-wire act in safe hands.

Halfway between Stratford-upon-Avon and Chipping Norton is the quaint market town of Shipston on Stour – and one of its grand Georgian townhouses is now The Bower House, updated with huge attention to detail, lavished on both the food and the accommodation. Downstairs, for the former, it’s all beetroot carpaccio and scallops (the Sunday lunch gets rave reviews, too). Upstairs are five rooms with a side order of panache.

We are already thinking about our next trip up to Shipston on Stour, because we’ll certainly be going back again. It really is the perfect, easy weekend getaway.
